Key words and what each feature needs

A few words come up everywhere in Technified, and some features only work once something else is set up. This page explains both, so nothing surprises you later.

Key words

WordWhat it means
Linking (verifying)A member proves which Roblox account is theirs by signing in to Roblox once. After that, Technified knows that this Discord account is that Roblox player.
Staff roleA group of your staff in Technified, for example Moderator. It says who belongs to it and what they may do. It is not a Discord role, but it usually follows one.
Staff rankA number from 1 to 1000 on every staff role. Higher means more senior. Staff can only act against people with a lower staff rank.
Group rankSomebody’s rank in your Roblox group, from 0 to 255, as Roblox counts it. It has nothing to do with the staff rank.
PermissionOne thing a staff role may do, like “Issue and lift punishments”.
Role syncRules that give Discord roles for what somebody has on Roblox: a group rank, a game pass, a badge.
Game moduleThe script in your Roblox game that connects it to Technified.
Game keyA password your game module (or your own program) uses to talk to Technified. Made in the dashboard. It decides what that game may do.
Roblox API keyA key you make on Roblox and give to Technified, so it may change your Roblox group. Different from a game key.
OrganizationSeveral Discord servers run together, for example a main server and a staff server, sharing bans or staff roles.
Audit logThe list of everything anybody changed through Technified on your server, with who and when.
OperatorA member of the Technified team. You only meet them if you contact support.

What each feature needs

Most of Technified works with the bot alone. A few features need more:

FeatureNeeds
Verification, role sync, tickets, forms, moderation on Discord, documents, public pageOnly the bot in your server.
Roles from Roblox group ranksOnly the bot. The group can be anybody’s.
Bans, mutes and kicks inside your Roblox gameThe game module in your game.
Staff hours, quotas and the list of live game serversThe game module, or hours logged by hand.
Changing ranks in your group, accepting join requests, Roblox ranks from Discord rolesA Roblox API key for your group.
The welcome greeting and join rolesDiscord has to tell Technified that somebody joined. This is set up by Technified; the Welcome tab warns you if it is missing.
Recording bans and timeouts done in Discord itselfThe bot’s role needs the View Audit Log permission.

When things update

This catches many people out: Technified does not check Roblox on its own every few minutes. A member’s roles and nickname are worked out again when:

  • they verify,
  • they run /update or /verify, or press Update my roles under the verify button,
  • a staff member presses Update roles on them in the dashboard.

So if somebody is promoted in your Roblox group, their Discord role follows the next time one of these happens. Tell your members to run /update after a promotion.

Good to know

Punishments, tickets, applications and everything your team does show up at once, everywhere. Only what comes from Roblox waits for an update.

The bot’s place in Discord

Discord only lets a bot give, take or change what is below its own role. In Server Settings → Roles, drag the Technified role above every role it should hand out, and above the members it should be able to ban or rename. Nobody, not even a bot, can rename the server owner.
